2017 – Week 1 Preview

While the forecast may call for rain, unless you hear from us directly, you can expect that we’ll be playing on Sunday – so plan to be there! This stuff changes so often, it’s hard to take seriously.

Few changes this year, we’re going to give you the schedule on the preview and pick one game to highlight and talk about. For week 1, we thought it would be best to highlight Pick #1 vs. Pick #2.

Game 1 – 9:30 AM: Samarra Eagles vs. Mashad Bucks

Game 2 – 11:00 AM: Samarra Eagles vs. Kadhmain Falcons

This is the one we wanted to talk about. Falcons who had the first pick in the draft and opted to trade it to get the what they deemed as the better package in Ali Manek and Salim Chagani. The Falcons have been taking things very seriously, having multiple practices, batting cage sessions, and they even attended a tournament where they made it all the way to the semi-finals before they were eliminated. The thing they won’t tell you is that there were only 4 teams in the tournament.

Regardless, they’ve got some playing experience as a team already. On the other hand, we have the Eagles, who feel they got the better half of this trade as the addition of Miqdad Jaffer has raised the skill level of all the players – that’s what happens when you trade for a player that doubles as the team coach. This first game will likely be full of mistakes from both sides, but we expect that the Falcons will come out ready to make a point. Look for Hussain Habib and reserve Khalil Sivjee in this game as the impact players. On the Eagles – newcomer Raheel Rawjani is going to announce his presence to the league.

Final score for this one is a close one, 11-8 for the Falcons.

Game 3 – 12:30 PM: Qum Tigers vs. Kadhmain Falcons

Game 4 – 2:00 PMQum Tigers vs. Najaf Lions

Game 5 – 3:30 PM: Mecca Wolves vs. Najaf Lions
